Typically, I begin client relationships with an initial consultation to determine the goals, scope and timeframe of your project. I then prepare and send you a proposal and cost estimate to sign and return. Once that has been received, work can begin.
Shortly thereafter, I’ll call you to schedule an interview with you or someone you appoint. I may ask for additional background information like brochures, flyers, letters, web content or other company information that I will use as the basis in drafting your copy.
After you’ve received the first draft copy, I’ll ask you to carefully review it and prepare your comments and questions for discussion.
How do you charge clients for your services?
I charge by the hour for most of my services. With web content, however, you may choose to be charged by the hour or by the page.
What does your service fee include?
My service fee includes all my time spent on your project including research, interviews, telephone and in-person meetings, writing, editing, proofreading and three rounds of revisions.
Do I own the rights to all copy you’ve written for my business?
After payment has been received, you own all the copy created for you. However, I may ask your permission to use your copy in my portfolio or on my website.
What happens if I have to cancel the project or change its scope or direction mid-way through it?
Your invoice would only include my hours spent on your project up until the point of cancellation. If the scope or direction of your project changed significantly, I would send you a revised proposal and cost estimate.
